China Deploys 100 rocket launchers Near India Border

After the face-off between India and China in Galwan valley, tensions between these countries near Line of Actual Control are still not resolved. The standoff near Line of Actual Control is still continuing which started on 5 May 2020. Even after 12 rounds of corps commander talks, both the countries have not reached to a consensus. Meanwhile, China has deployed 100 advanced and long-range rocket launchers at its high-altitude borders.

The move has come after the Indian Army enhanced its deployment of M777 ultra-light howitzers and K9 Vajra at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

India had recently added Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) Heron I and ALH Dhruv choppers to its aviation brigade to counter China.

It is a twin-engine, multi-role, multi-mission new generation helicopter in the 5.5 ton weight class and is being used for quick mobilisation of troops.

As the Chinese People`s Liberation Army aggression at the Line of Actual Control, the force has increased frequency of surveillance at the border area to keep a tap on their activities.

China is trying to ramp up its defense for the winter season. This move has been taken by China in order to counter three regiments of Indian Army along with M777 ultra-light howitzers. China has deployed

·        PCL-181 howitzer

·        Type PCL-191 Rocket launcher
·        PHL-03 Rocket launcher

Meanwhile, Rudra is the first Army Aviation aircraft to add 'teeth to the fleet of Army Aviation with its Mistral air-to-air missiles, 70 mm rockets, 20 mm guns and ATGMs.

The ALH (WSI) is a force multiplier for the field force commander with its potent weapons on board. This helicopter will be able to storm the enemy forces and hunt them down when required.

From Sikkim to Arunachal Pradesh, India shares a total of 1,346-km-long LAC with China.

Indian Army has been boosting its firepower in the eastern sector as well. The Army has upgraded its vintage air defence Bofors guns, besides bringing in the new Ultra Light Howitzer M777 artillery guns.

The Army has also continued with the deployment of Bofors as well in the forward areas of the LAC. The Army has also upgraded them with newer automated systems that not only increase their precision, but also the speed at which they can fire.

All these inductions and upgrades are said to have allowed India much better defensive and offensive capabilities facing China in the east. China too, has been increasing its capabilities in the region. The South China Morning Post reported on Tuesday that China too has deployed “more than 100 advanced long-range rocket launchers to its high-altitude borders with India, according to a source close to the Chinese military, as the two sides remain deadlocked over their protracted boundary disputes”.

China reunification with Taiwan ‘must’ be fulfilled: Xi Jinping

China's President Xi Jinping has said that "reunification" with Taiwan "must be fulfilled", as heightened tensions over the island continue. Mr Xi said unification should be achieved peacefully, but warned that the Chinese people had a "glorious tradition" of opposing separatism. In response, Tsai Ing-wen president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) said "we will not bow to Beijing pressure and our future lay in the hands of our people". Taiwan considers itself a sovereign state, while China views it as a breakaway province. Beijing has not ruled out the possible use of force to achieve unification. Mr Xi's intervention comes after China sent a record number of military jets into Taiwan's air defence zone in recent days. Some analysts say the flights could be seen as a warning to Taiwan's president ahead of the island's national day which is on 10th of October. Taiwan's defence minister has said that "tension...

USA eyes military bases in India

The United States has subtly hinted that it has been in talks with New Delhi for using airfields in India as “staging areas” for carrying out aerial surveillance and launching attacks on terrorists in and around Afghanistan.  President Joe Biden’s administration is “deeply engaged” with New Delhi, the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, said, testifying before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives – the lower house of the American Congress. In the strategic circles in both the US and India, there are now more voices favoring the idea of India providing a military base to the US Navy, preferably somewhere in the Andaman and Nicobar group of islands. Since the US Navy is said to be planning to deploy 60 percent of its surface ships in the Indo-Pacific, it wants safe territories in or the adjoining Arabian Sea, Andaman & Nicobar, and the Bay of Bengal for refueling and other logistic support. In fact, the Pentagon has been looking for base opportunities...
